It’s been a while since I sat down and wrote down what’s been happening in my life. Last time I posted was back in December 2021 so it’s been well over a year! Like most people, I look forward to the warm and full summer months and although I didn’t really plan to have such an entirely filled to the brim schedule, it’s been lovely filling up that social cup when and where I’m able to.
We’ve been at our current townhome in Ottawa for over a year now as of July after selling our first home only 5 months after closing on it. It was an emotional decision, but ultimately one that made the most sense to us after really sitting down and talking about out future wants and how they really differed from society-driven ones. I look back at that time in our life and think sometimes the hardest things you push yourself to get through are the most rewarding ones and that’s exactly what I would share with anyone who is in a moment of making a hard decision that could impact your life completely.
Since then, I have been focusing on some of my personal goals that I wanted to set out for myself this year; some of those being to travel waaay more, to spend time and work on my friendships and relationship, and lastly to try and go with the flow more and let tension and stress melt away since I know the effect it has on me is no beuno.
This month and next month will be FULL of travel. From visiting my family in other parts of the province, to dipping my toes into Las Vegas (my first time in Sin City but laughably for work purposes), to finish off September with a three week long trip to Europe – starting in Santorini, making a pit stop to the Amalfi Coat and Rome and then finishing in London, UK. Lots of my spare time has been putting together details for this trip and there are so many parts of it that I am looking forward to – mainly getting to spend 5 days on a Greek island watching one of our girlfriends get married, getting to luckily catch up and spend some time with family members who live abroad and who I don’t get to see often, and I mean… A L L of the perfect pasta that my heart desires.
This summer has been filled with so many in between events and hangouts too that the amount of cooking at home has definitely dwindled down but I like to keep in mind that if this beautiful weather was around all the time, I would feel much less obligated to be out and about exploring new restaurants and dining out. I am very much looking forward to getting some quality time back in my kitchen and hope to start posting recipes again. Although I haven’t posted much on the blog as of late, it has been on my mind for many months and I know deep down that when the time is right, I will lean into the recipe testing and food sharing memories when I feel ready.
In the meantime, here’s a photo diary of what I have been eating over the past few months:
I’ve noticed a pattern that I always seem to be the most active on my blog during the fall and honestly, I know it’s because it’s one of the points of the year that I feel happiest in the kitchen. So stay tuned for upcoming posts my friends, she’s back and ready to jump in whole heartedly.
As always, peace and good eats!
